Welcome to The Red Hook Country Inn, located in the quaint village of Red Hook, 2 hours north of New York City and 3 hours south of Boston. The village of Red Hook is surrounded by rolling hills, small farms, historic sites, and breathtaking vistas of the Catskills and Berkshire Mountains. Our Red Hook Country Inn Bed and Breakfast is an excellent base to pursue activities, as we are only 2 miles to Bard College & the Fischer Performing Art Center, 5 miles north of Rhinebeck, 8 miles east of historic Kingston, NY's first capitol, 15 minutes north of Hyde Park and 25 minutes south of Hudson, NY.
Numerous historic sites are nearby including FDR family homes and library, Wilderstein (home of Daisy Suckley, long time confident who gave FDR his beloved dog FALA) and Mills Mansions, Clermont (home of the first steamboat, ie The Clermont), Montgomery Place (magnificent river view and garden walking paths), and the famed home of Frederick Church, Olana (built of mosaic tile with a 360* view of the Hudson River, Catskill, Berkshire and Taconic Mountains. Antiquing abounds, and if you prefer a brisk walk, Poet's Landscape Park and Ferncliff Forest are minutes away, or a bike ride (23 miles from the Hudson Rail Trail), the valley offers picturesque trails and roads. Watch the Red Baron fly at the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome, take a Hudson River boat tour, wander through cobblestone streets in nearby historic Kingston, tour stone houses in Hurley, or attend a musical concert at Bard or nearby Vassar Colleges. We are only 45 minutes from Stockbridge, Ma, the home of Norman Rockwell and his very famous Christmas Scene, and skiing is available at nearby Hunter Mountain, Wyndham, or Catamount Resorts. Lest we forget the village of WOODSTOCK and the Bethel Woods 'Woodstock' Museum. Step back into the 60's for a day or an hour! At least 10 wineries are within a 5-45 minute drive from our inn, including Millbrook, Alison, Cascade, Brothers, and many others on the Dutchess Wine Trail!
